Clean Air and Sparkling Skies
At over 7000′ in elevation the air at the ranch is always crisp and clean. The clouds are wispy
cotton balls moving quietly across the bright blue sky. To the north you look at the entire
High Uintah Mountain Range from West to East and from the highest point on the ranch you can see
the Wasatch Mountains on your west from Nephi to Salt Lake.
On a clear day in the Uintah Basin you can see the distant mountains of Colorado.
Closer in you’ll see Starvation Reservoir in Duchesne to the east and fading into the distant blue you can see a
trace of Roosevelt, and Vernal, Utah.
In the summer afternoons thunder storms move across the valley with beautiful lightning and massive thunder cracks
and in the winter the snow storms can drop 6 feet or more.

Wild Life
Fishing, Hunting and plenty of sightseeing abound in this high desert.
Wild life roaming freely on the ranch are: Mule Deer, Wapiti (Elk), Prong Horn Sheep, Cougar,
Black Bear, Cottontail Rabbit, Jack Rabbit, Mountain Red Squirrel, Pine
Squirrel, Golden-mantled Ground Squirrel (looks like a big chipmunk), wild turkey, dusky pine grouse, Badger, Coyote,
Skunk, Porcupine, Chipmunks and more.

As for Birds, there are so many I’ll list them all at the end. You’ll also enjoy the thousands of hummingbirds (literally thicker than flies) who come to the ranch from March to
September to raise their next generation. We typically feed 4 gallons of nectar a day during the peak.
At night you might hear the coyotes howl or the cougars snarl and by day you may only catch a glimpse of them skulking through the pine trees like ghosts.
The ranch has miles of ATV trails, hiking and most importantly, just kicking back.

Walking around you may see cage free, free ranging chickens that produce dozens of wonderful brown and blue eggs and you might also see ducks, geese, swans and sandhill cranes fly and don’t forget our two Australian Healers “Zeus” and “Apollo” who have full run of the place.
They are friendly if family or ranch hands are with you, but if they don’t know you take heed, they can be very quiet and sneaky and they have a really nasty BITE of which many trespassers can attest!

Okay, here’s the birds we’ve documented: Nuthatch, Pine Siskin, Gold Finch, Red Finch, Titmouse, Black-headed Chickadee, Black-headed Grosbeak, Dark Eyed Junco, Scrub Jay, Stellar Jay, Clark’s Nutcracker, Mourning Dove, Ringneck Dove, Bullbat (Nighthawk), Raven, Bald Eagle, Golden Eagle, Red Tail Hawk, Turkey Vulture, American Kestrel, Peregrine Falcon, Osprey, Green Swallow, Mountain Bluebird.
Hummingbirds: Rufous, Broad Tail, Black Chinned and Calliope

Ranch Production
We have almost 20 Acres of natural cedar trees and Piñon (pinyon) pines that produce the very popular edible “Pine Nuts”.
We also commercially grow American and Hybrid Chestnuts and Hazelnuts which are in and around all of the natural Piñon’s and cedars.
Many of our Piñon’s and cedars are some of the largest in the forest with trunks of about 3 feet in diameter.
